Pursuit of Happiness :)

About 4 years ago, my good friend and I were sitting and having coffee and we were both complaining about our cubicle jobs. We both decided to read The Anti 9-5, and meet once a week to talk about it. It is a book about getting out of your day job and pursuing something you are really passionate about.
For me- I have been painting ever since I was given my first acrylic paint set at around age 12. I was raised that painting wasn't a practical profession, but I decided to work at it and get my work out there. I went on a leave of absence about 7 months ago from my finance job, and officially quit about a month ago.
My friend Jackie, whom took this journey with me wants and is a professional dancer/choreographer. She has been coaching a local high-school dance team for the past 3 years, and she officially quit her day job about 3 months ago. She is opening up her first dance studio, called Push Studios set to open in September. I am so proud of her and she is amazing. :) If you are in the Portland area, she is doing some free classes this week.
It's really exhilarating setting goals and achieving them. Next! Taking over the world!

Erika, I'm so proud that you have been taking these steps. You can totally make art your full time "job" just keep working away and believing you can do it.
