I have come to a conclusion- 98% of people I know are having babies, so I have been busy making gifts. :) I made a little owl just for her or her baby. Who doesn't love owls? Not real owls.. real owls are probably viscous... Stuffed ones are the happy little owls.
***Warning- your sewing skill level needs to be able to thread a needle and tie a knot***
Supplies
1. Felt
2. Embroidery Thread
3. Needle for the Embroidery Thread
4. Scissors
5. Buttons
6. Animal Stuffing
7. Your Creativity :) (Just in case)
1. Cut your body of your owl from the felt- you will want to cut out 2 of these. Cut out the eyes- 2 sets of circles. Cut out the little wings. Cut out a little beak. If you want a snazzy owl- cut out a bowtie.
2. Lay out how you would like your gorgeous owl to look.
3. Thread your needle and start sewing on the eyes.. then the buttons.. then the little beak.. then the little wings.. then the little bowtie. If you want to add buttons to his chest- now is the time.
4. Sew your body of the bird inside out but leave a space open at the bottom. Now reverse your bird and check our your fantastic good job.
5. Stuff the bird. :) like thanksgiving.
6. Sew up the bottom of the bird. Viola. You are done! You did such a great job. It's ok if it's not perfect- I think it's better if it's imperfect- that's what kids like right?
Yoda started barking at it and then sniffing it. Then he grabbed it and ran off with it. :) Now it's dog tested!
Yoda fell in love with this one, now I have to make another one. :)
PS I am going to start doing a weekly DIY- one of my new years resolutions to share more DIY.

What a great and cute idea! I might give this a try- I need to find a place where I can buy felt cos I also have some good ideas.
As for HK, I'll send you an e-mail with some "helpful tips"
well yes, please share!!! Really cute owls.
p.s.
I am a buddhist, I do believe in reincarnation. My smelly Martino could be your Pepe, why not?? There must be something else that connected us other than just a cute comment on a blog, right?
That's so sweet and wonderful! I have a stash of felt i've been meaning to break into. : )
So cute! Love the colors you picked out. Lots of my friends are having babies too.
too cute! I love the big eyes :)
Very cute an owl in a suit!! (I think I just channeled Dr. Seuss!)
I think there must be something in the water - because in the last year all my close girlfriends - besides you - have had or are having babies.
thank goodness I don't drink water. :)

Ooh, I love owls AND buttons...adorable project! Yoda is pretty cute, too!
Everyone is having babies! It's crazy. So many babies, so little time to make things. :)
This is super cute... I think I might have to make one!
Oh this is just wonderful Erika! And you're right, who doesn't love owls?!?!? (though yes, perhaps being close quarters with a real owl isn't the best place to me ... those beaks look pretty nasty).
This is perfectly suited to my current confidence with sewing projects ... you're a star for sharing it! :)
The finished owl looks SO cute!! I bet all the kiddies and doggies will want one! :D
such a cute owl!
