Motivation Monday- Are you Dreaming Big Enough?

How was your weekend? Mine was spent looking at art, going treasure hunting, and watching old movies with my husband. :) I am starting to see small little signs of spring, but it's still quite gray here.  My little dogs are snoring away while I write this blog post and the sun hasn't quite come up yet.
For Motivation Monday- I want to pose a question to you.  Are you dreaming big enough? I know that sometimes it's easier to think of small steps and you need to think of those small steps, but sometimes I think I loose sight of that big fish.
What are you big dreams? Like BIG?. :) Sometimes I think we just need to say them out loud.

PS- Don't think I forgot Happy Valentines Day! Hugs and Hearts to you!

Well... that depends on the individual. What's "big" to you might not be too big to me.

For example - a middle-class person might be content with dreaming about a house in suburbia, earning $500,000 an year and having a family.

That might be a "small" dream to someone who's earning more than a $1 billion an year.

I remember thinking of something often when I got dumped by women. "Just you wait, you'll be sorry - I'll be the richest and most powerful person in the world one day. I'll also be one of the most generous and famous people around. then you'll be sorry you left me."

:P

Yes, I have some pretty crazy dreams. XD But, yeah, just wanted to say that.

Hmm ... I think I traditionally tend to focus on all the little bits and pieces too, and don't spend enough time dreaming big ...

Actually that's probably not all that true. I DO dream big, but perhaps I don't dare to ever believe that those dreams will ever become reality ... I'm trying to become better at daring to dream!

Your blog is a constant inspiration, so that will help me! :D

I have trouble sharing my feelings and dreams. My big dream was to become a ballerina until I was injured. I sort of stopped dreaming after that.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is a great post.
I have not been been dreaming big, been second guessing my self and my decisions a lot lately. Not good. Brings me down.

Jitendar- Motivation isn't always about Money :) In my opinion it's about doing something great.

Mandy- I still am so amazed you are a ballerina! The ballerinas for the Oregon Ballet come into this local coffee shop I frequent and I am always so amazed. It most be so hard and actually I know its so hard that when you have a dream that you work so hard for and it doesn't work out. I sometimes think maybe that dream was supposed to mean something else.

Happy Valentine's to you too! I like this post - as much as small steps may be necessary in realizing our larger goals and dreams, we can't let ourselves get lost in them and lose sight of the bigger picture.

As for my big dreams... they're still being formed. Do I want to be a professor or start a non-profit? I just don't know, but the shape and scope of my ambitions I am sure of - I want to make a big impact, I want to improve and touch the lives of many, I want to share all that I can to bring happiness and health to others. I'm just still figuring out what small steps I need to take to realize that bigger vision...

Thanks again for this thought-provoking post and have a lovely V-day!

i agree with you. don't edit your dreams, especially when it comes to the how part. revel in the possibility first, then make your to do list. happy love day! xo, c

What movies did you watch? I am an old movie kick (circa 1999). And a treasure hunt? Sounds so fun!

Happy Valentine's Day Erika! Glad to hear you are seeing signs of spring. I was at the grocery store today and saw Spring Oreos....so that is something I guess:)
I just love your Motivation Mondays! They really inspire and make me think. My big dream would be to sell art as a full time job and teach art classes from my own studio. Maybe one day!
Have a fantastic day with your husband and dogs!

Happy Valentine's to you as well! All I can dream about is the future - a comfy, cozy house for our new life together. Having a well behaved dog to take care of us. Hopefully having a family. Just having my husband to love for the rest of my life. Having a store of my own is another big dream of mine. I'm trying so hard to make it all happen in due time!

Happy Valentine's Day! For now, I'm working on the smaller steps to reach the big dream- sometimes it's easy to lose sight of the end goal, but dreaming big requires a lot of effort!

Love the question!

I definitely haven't lost sight of my BIG dream...though I need to start working through more of the little steps :)

My BIG dream is to start my company, become an entrepreneur (just like you!) and start giving back.

I know it can happen but I need to put more energy into the little steps so I can get to the reality of living my DREAM!

It's nice to know others feel the same way :)

I like your post : )
This has been a huge part of my life lately. . .
Changes can often seem negative and scary until you
realize they are another string clipped and now you can fly all the higher. I am dreaming BIG right now, and am on the road to try to keep up with my self. Maybe it is in the air . . .

I understand that motivation isn't always about money. That's just one example I used to illustrate my point.

Like I said, everyone has their own thing. Everyone has their own calling they work towards.

:)

Some people are pushed by the same driving force, but end up expressing it in different ways. For example - the drive to help other human beings - some people do the best they can for their families. Others decide to go to Africa and help the underprivileged.

The drive is the same behind the scenes. Just manifests itself in different ways. :D

it can be so hard to admit what your big dreams are for fear of failure! I read so many books about people who make huge positive changes in individuals' lives, as well as changing an area and the world on a larger scope, and I dream of having that big of an impact one day!

That picture of your dog is amazing:)

I agree that it's easy to lose track of your big goals when you're always busy crossing off little things of your list.
Before you asked I had forgotten about it a bit too.
There are some goals that are either just so longterm or depend more on chance than on your own work that it's hard to get satisfaction out of them now. But I'll try to think of a/some more achievable big goal(s) again soon.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day <3
