(oil study on paper)
The reason why I wanted to create my own artist residency is because I thought number one it would be a great project to do and I have always wanted to do a artist residency. Typically an artist goes to art school and then goes and does a residency or a fellowship, but sadly I never went to art school. I also wanted to make art and take pictures and fund my project based on the book and my paintings. So why not make my own residency? That's where Kickstarter came into the picture. I have a ton of art shows and events lined up in Portland for the next couple of months and planning on going to Hong Kong end of April. Busy times! But who needs sleep? What are you up to this Wednesday?

Wow, you've got so much going on and this Hong Kong project sounds amazing - and I love your attitude and ambition regarding the whole thing! I will definitely be sure to spread the word in whatever small way I can! I wish I could say I was planning something as big and exciting on this Wednesday but I'm working, going to class, and hopefully creating a small little something in today's few free hours. Have a good one and best of luck again with your residency project/funding!
Erika, you inspire me so much! I can't wait to see all of the amazing art you will do in Hong Kong! Your video was very professional also, how long did it take you to put together?! I hope you will continue with your blogging while in Hong Kong as well!
Have a great Wednesday:) By the way, do you have any other netflex recommends?
I need sleep! hehe. You'll be great girl! Keep us updated since we won't be in Portland ourselves

I think it's fantastic that you're doing this residency. Who needs art school anyway when you're as talented as you are! I'm so proud. Congrats!

Thanks so much Quin! I had some help from my husband's little brother who helped me shoot it and make it. He is mega talented :) I was going to post a blog post in the near future about tips for making a video.
