October Goals

Wow! I can't believe we are officially in October and we are almost in the holiday season.  I have some art projects fast approaching! yikes!.  Since I have been getting back into the swing of things, I wanted to set some October goals! I think half the battle is writing them down and now I know what I am in for. :)  I know I am a new mommy but I am extremely motivated person and that's something I want to inspire in my daughter.  I want her to know that anything is possible!
1.  Take more photos!  When I was pregnant I so did not want to take any pictures, but it feels so good to start carrying my camera around again and snapping life's special moments.  My paintings are usually inspired by those little moments.
2.  Blog every weekday.  I missed blogging while pregnant but it was hard to sit in a computer chair and then my other problem was putting the lap top on my belly- since a baby belly is not flat :).  I am so excited to be back and saying hello to some old and new bloggy friends.
3.  Instagram everyday in October.  I love Instagram! but I have a tendency to be a little shy and am going to be a little braver this month and post more pictures! Are you on instagram? My instagram is erikaleesears - if you want to check out my month long adventures.
4.  Finish my Sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project 2013.  I just love this project- complete a sketchbook and then it travels around the country and then has a permanent home in the Brooklyn Art Museum's Library.
5.  Do art everyday.  Having a little baby makes it challenging to squeeze in art but I have found that if I do art everyday even if it's just a drawing- that there is something still left for me.  Having a baby was one of the craziest journey's of my life- in an instant your life changes in a huge way but making art makes me happy and I have to make it.
6.  Go to the Pumpkin Patch.  This year I can take my little daughter to pick out her very first pumpkin. I already started plotting and planning her Halloween costume but I can't wait to start making these special memories with my daughter.
7.  Take Eleanor to Baby Hour at the Portland Art Museum.  The Portland Art Museum offers a special Mommy and Me- slow guided tour with mommies and their babys.  I already bought my ticket and really excited to go!  I love the idea of strolling along and telling her all about my favorite paintings.  Hopefully she doesn't snooze or scream through the entire hour!

That sounds like some fabulous goals!! I know how hard it can be getting back into things with a baby, I have a one year old and an 8 year old. I'm happy when I can take them to an Art gallery and see how they respond to it. Thankfully both enjoy, so I don't have any problems. I hope your baby will enjoy it too. Maybe when your baby is a bit older, you can get some baby safe paints and let her go to town with the paints while you work :) I hope you get to reach all your goals, it's very important to have them as a Mother, helps keep you sane and not bogged down & don't worry about not reaching them or anything like that, just work as you can and you'll get there :) Lots of good luck to you doll xx
