Make over!

I am super excited to show you guys my new blog design- I have been wanting to do something new  since having a baby but have been dragging my feet. I was able to bribe my husband and his little brother with yummy cocktails and a big dinner to help me with the HTML and some of the design.. and just love how it turned out.

What did you do this weekend?

Happy Valentine's Day! She ate my heart.

Happy Valentine's Day! I love Valentine's day because it puts my husband on the hook for surprising me with something.  It's our baby's first Valentine's day too and I know he is planning something extra special.  I took somel V-day picks of the baby in her Valentine's day out fit but none of the pictures turned out- it's been pretty gray and rainy here in Portland.

Here is a silly video my husband made on Vine.  Are you on Vine?

Valentine's Day Music Playlist

When my husband and I first started dating back in college- we used to make each other mixed cds of our favorite music.  Now and then we still make each other a special music mix.  I just love getting a home made gift especially for Valentine's Day because of the amount of TLC that goes into it. :)

1.  "Little Black Submarines" The Black Keys
2.  "Radio active" - Imagine Dragons
3. "Lonesome Dreams" Lord Huron
4.  "Little Talks" -Of Monsters & Men
5.  "Suit & Tie" - Justin Timberlake (Don't judge me! JT Forever!)
6.  "New York" Poloma Faith
7.   "Summer's Gone" Pretty Lights
8.  "Atlas Genius" Trojans
9. "Take a Walk" Passion Pit

What are you listening to this Valentine's Day?

This & That

We went and visited my parents over the weekend and the pugs love my mom.  We pull into their drive way, they start squealing with delight and once the car door opens they run around and start looking for her.  Then they start following her around and completely ignore me.. I know my mom accidentally drops quite a bit of little crumbs while she is cooking or eating.. so I think that has something to do with their loyalties. ;)

How was your weekend?

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! We are headed to see my parents and am looking forward to big breakfasts, sleeping in, and some well deserved thrifting.  I haven't been thrifting much since the baby been born but there are some amazing secret thrift shops out by my parents and am can't wait to go find some treasures.

Just showing up.

Lately I have been doing a lot of hitting the gym, since I'm almost 7 months post partum.  I just want to be free of the baby weight, want to feel good and get my energy back.  Like a lot of women, my pregnancy was tough and I completely hibernated the whole time I was pregnant.  I didn't want to go anywhere.. do anything.. except maybe clean my house and I did some major house purging.  I was totally one of those pregnant ladies that completely lost most of her mind... and the only way you could get me out of the house was maybe.. for a vanilla milkshake.  I also think that's true with life- if people are going through a struggle (even a good struggle) its great to feel like you are starting to make it to the other side of your journey.. and that's where I am.

My husband and I are extremely motivated people, we work a lot of hours and make a lot of things because we love what we do and are extremely passionate about the projects that we work on.  I realized that when I was pregnant I needed to figure out some kind of balance with work and life and taking care of me. Making art was difficult while I was pregnant and making art now is difficult while being a mommy but  if I can do a little bit everyday.. and am learning that half the battle is just showing up.   I am still very much in love with making art- but realized that I need to just make art, that I just need to show up in my studio even if it's for 30 minutes.  Seems simple, but sometimes the simplest things are the most challenging

What I love about being post partum is feeling like I am getting back to my old self mixed with my new self and the new chapter that I am working on, but lately.. I feel like I am exactly where I need to be.

February Goals

I am such a goal person! or at least I am such a list person. One habit I have gotten into is setting my goals for the month and do my very best to try to stick to them.  It's amazing what one can accomplish by just saying it out loud.

1.  Paint everyday.  It is really hard to paint everyday not because I don't want to but having a baby takes up a lot of time.  lol.. before having a baby I didn't quite understand how much time a baby takes. It's worth every single moment but managing time has become a whole new art form.  I have deadlines approaching and need to figure out a good strategy to paint everyday.
2.  Work out every weekday.  I joined a mommy work out group in the mornings and it is a butt kicking work out that I need and I get out of the house in the morning and start my day with a good start.  I can take Nora with me and she hangs out in the stroller. I can't say enough good things about if you just had a baby joining a mommy work out group- everyone is understanding and nice and they are all rooting for you.
3.  Do an Instagram a day.  I've seen different Instagram challenges for February floating around the web and mine is just to do one every day.
4.  Go on a Valentines Date.    Being a new mommy makes me think of holidays completely different and want to do something extra special with my husband and Nora.  I haven't quite figured it out yet but have a few ideas.
5.  Allow myself to Daydream more.  Daydreaming always helps my creativity and I do carry around a little sketchbook for ideas but I really want to fill it up even more.

What are you looking forward to accomplishing this month?

Friday

Happy Friday! A couple of weeks ago I went to my first knitting circle and I have never knitted before..  I tried once when I was a teenager (yikes aging myself) and it was a big fail. I know it's not the most perfect attempt at knitting- lots of dropped stitches and holes :) but hey I did it.  It was so much fun and one of the more experienced knitters told me I could be ready to learn Pearl 1.  I'm not sure what Pearl 1 is but it sounds exciting.. doesn't it?

This weekend is a boring weekend.. we are doing.. taxes.. Taxes are not fun but such a relief once it's over and then after taxes are over we are rewarding ourselves with a delicious lunch date.

What are you up to this weekend?
