Frida on Friday

1/2/3/4/5

Happy Friday! I can't believe the we made it to Friday.  This weekend Tim is working on a hackathon which means other than mommy duties, I can watch artsy documentaries and make art! Yah! What is a hackathon? A hackathon is where a group of computer nerds get together and make something and they only have the weekend to make a working prototype. It's pretty intense but it's amazing to make something out of nothing.

I am totally obsessed with this style of dress from Anthro and it reminds me of this gorgeous painting by Frida.  Even though Frida was a little rough around the edges- her play on androgyny makes me think of summer time.

What are you up to this weekend?

Best of luck to Tim this weekend Erika, I had no idea what a hackathon was until now, hopefully it goes well for him! Enjoy your weekend!

If only I had the skills to take part in a hackathon - it sounds fun and intense

I really love the shades! Frieda has a really amazing story, which is reflected in her pieces.

I love Frida's work! One of my favorite books is Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna, which is a historical fiction based on her life. You should read it!

A hackathon? Sounds like my kind of party! My weekend was decidedly less exciting as I watched back-to-back episodes of Judge Judy on the sofa with a nasty head cold.
