August Goals

As Nora is getting bigger and a little older- it seems like I am wanting to create more art and make even more creative goals.  She is a very busy little toddler and into everything! but everyday I am realizing how important it is to be creative.  If I don't act now on my ideas and creativity- time is just going to fly on by and all those ideas will be gone.

1.  No Television during the day. Ugh.. I love television, and I know I watch way too much and if it's trashy tv.. I love it even more.  I always say I am a child of television because when I was a kid, parents would just put their kids in front of the television and I want to break the cycle. I don't mean zero television at all but I'm just saying I want cut back and maybe even go a day with out it.  I sound like an addict don't I?  It's really important to me that she doesn't get zoned out on television especially when there is so much life out there and so many things to learn and experience.  I do want her to have a certain amount of exposure to television but not too much.  I once tried to do no television for a month but I think I caved after day 3. :)  I think I can do it this month because I am not denying myself television- just none during the day.

2.  This month is our 8 year anniversary and I can not believe that we have been married for 8 years and together 10 years.. Yes! a decade.  I want to do something special for Tim but what do you get a guy who has everything? Tim is so extremely hard to surprise and shop for because I am the worst at keeping secrets from him or keeping gifts from him.   I am still stumped but it might be a good thing because then I won't ruin the surprise too early when I figure out what I doing.

3.  Get into my art studio everyday this month.  My previous goal was to get into my art studio 3 times per week and I was able to get in there sometimes 4 or 5 a week but I need to make more time because I have so many projects coming.  Nora is slowly going to one nap per day which means I can only paint and make work at night.

4.   Go on an artist date.  An artist date is where you have a date with yourself and do something creative, like go to a museum or gallery.. or go see a documentary.  something creative and by yourself to nourish your creative self.  I haven't been on an artist date in quite some time and I think August is the month to start doing an artist date.

5.  Sketch a week on Instagram... even the ugly sketches.

Have a wonderful Monday! What are you up to this Monday?

maybe it's a portland thing because i love tv too! i don't watch it very often during the day but come evening time it's on and i have a list of shows i watch religiously.

it sounds like a really great goal to get in your studio daily. with my twins i was really lucky and when they went to one nap it turned out to be one 3 hour nap! that was super awesome, maybe you will get something similar once she adjusts. i will keep my fingers crossed :)

I really hope that you get Tim the perfect present and that you guys have a great anniversary as well. Your first paragraph is so true and quite frankly inspirational as well, we have to make the most of the thoughts that go into our heads and use them quickly.
