October Goals

Happy October!  I love the start of a new month and thinking of all the fun things that I want to accomplish and do for the month.  Fall is hands down my favorite season and October is already shaping up to be a busy month.

1. Go to the Pumpkin Patch. Our family tradition is to go run around the pumpkin patch which includes a day filled with hot chocolate, carmel corn, the corn maze, hay rides and of course pumpkins :). My favorite thing about going to the pumpkin patch is getting the pumpkins and carving them... a little cheesy I know but I just love it. I was thinking this year I will try and attempt to make toasted pumpkin seeds even though for some reason I always think the insides of pumpkins are the pumpkin brain.

2. Figuring out a Halloween costume for Nora. I went a little over the top last year and made her a several and she was only 4 months which consisted of an M&M costume, a hello kitty costume, and an elephant. Now that she is 14 months I am completely stumped. I have no ideas, which is pretty unusual for me because I am usually just bursting with ideas. :( Still got nothing but hopefully something will come soon.

 3. I'm painting for my annual upcoming Christmas Show- the Big 400 and I can't believe it's been happening for 6 years which hopefully I can show you some peaks at what I am working on but it's off to a slow start. I think I am noticing a trend this month. Maybe it's the laziest of summer still hanging in there. Want to see work from previous years Big 300 or Big 200  or Big 100 and details about the show.

4. Screen print since taking the class last week and now I have the itch to screen print. Now I want to put together the supplies so that I can screen print at home but rounding up the supplies is tough and expensive but I think I can do it. I just need to go visit the hardware store and talk with the handy people because I may be creative and artistic but when it comes to hammers and nails... I'm not the most handy. I'm a little intimidated but I think I can do it.

Doing anything fun this October?

Those seem like such fun and exciting things for the month of October. My goal for the month is much less exciting, I am trying to get up by 7 am everyday for a whole month. I need to be to work by 9 am everyday but I have been dragging out getting up for a while and I want to get up earlier to have more time to relax and work on creative projects before I have to go slave away in my office.

Good luck getting the stuff for screen printing, your designs are so beautiful
Cheers.

Going to a pumpkin patch is one of my goals for Fall, too! I've been wanting to do that since I moved to the Northeast :) I'm excited to see what Halloween costume you'll come up with for Nora - so exciting! Also, your rabbit screen prints look so great! Thanks for visiting me over at my blog - I'm loving yours! xo

I've still never been to an actual farm's pumpkin patch or in a corn maze so both of those are on my list. I'm also determined to look forward to the colder weather and that may mean stocking up on cold weather clothing that I do not have. So October's shaping up to be a good one!

if we had a 14 month old right now i would probably just make steve shave his head and grow a goatee so we could all celebrate halloween as walter, skylar, and holly white bahaha!

i'm so jealous of your screen printing skills! i need to go find a class!

Copy cat answers here, at least for two: pumpkin patch and finding a halloween costume! The former is my favorite fall activity. Apple picking, cider donuts, traipsing through pumpkin rows in new boots. Not a bad goal to set at all!

i love the pumpkin patch too, though carving them is something i seem to inevitably skip over. i am hoping we get some nice weather here soon so we can actually enjoy fall this year! and, oy, i need to figure out costumes too. having twins makes me really want to have them with the whole "couples" costumes (which we have done so far), so the pressure is on!

Of course going to a pumpkin patch has to be first on the list! I haven't been to one in years, but I really want to take my little nieces this year! They are finally old enough to enjoy it. I would also love to find extra time to paint...
