My Secret Bloody Mary Recipe

Our typical weekend is that Nora wakes us up around 8 am, (she is our family's alarm clock) and I get her from her crib.  She then sandwiches in-between Tim and I and we all snuggle in bed until it's time to make a big breakfast.  Big breakfasts are the best over the weekends and if we have friends joining us, I usually whip up a batch of Bloody Mary's.  Well.. I am a little reluctant to share my delicious Bloody Mary recipe because it is pretty darn delicious. 
4.5 cups of tomato juice
3 stalks of celery
3 teaspoons of horseradish
2 teaspoons of worcestershire sauce
1/4 of sweet onion- cut into chunks
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon of dill
2 tablespoons of hot sauce 
1 squeezed lemon
1.5 cups of vodka
Makes 4 Bloody Mary's

Throw in all the ingredients into a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth.  Now these Bloody Mary's taste better when you make them ahead of time and let them chill in the fridge for a few hours... or you can always make them the night before and in the morning give them a quick twirl in the ol' blender to mix them up.

Suggested Garnishes: A Stalk of Celery, a Strip of Bacon, Olives, Lemon, Salted Rim, Pickled Asparagus, Pickled Green Beans, Peppers, Pearl Onions, Salami, or a small clove of garlic.. Now maybe not all of these for a garnish at once because that would be one wild and crazy Blood Mary. :)

I have a thing for Bloody Marys! They're so delicious and salty and spicy (we add horseradish, too!) and just addictive. And I cheat and tell myself it's healthy because it's tomato juice ;) xo

I've been in the car or away from my computer (almost typed "away from my Bloody Mary!") most of the day, but I couldn't wait to come and comment on this. I love Bloody Marys! My husband does not love them (WTH?), but he makes the best ones, rims the glass with Old Bay (we are on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay, after all) and garnishes with an olive. My son drinks them sans alcohol.

I'll definitely be sharing your recipe. They count as breakfast, right? ;)

I've never liked Bloody Marys but lately, I've been craving one. Perhaps I should try. That's how I ended up loving coffee. Hated it for the longest time and then started craving it one day, been drinking it ever since.

These always look amazing, but my aversion to raw tomato and celery would make this a no no.

I love Bloody Mary's but never attempted to make them myself, usually stuck with a mix. I've found a few good mixes, one from a local cider mill is good and a local distillery has a really awesome one. I think they use pickle juice or something.

Oh wow, this recipe makes my mouth water just reading it! Yum. I like to put pickled spicy green beans in mine.
