A Drawer A Day

At the start of every new year, I secretly try to be a little bit more organized. After having baby Everett, I have felt the need to really declutter my house.  Nora is two and half and is so extremely curious.  She loves to go through every single drawer and rearrange every single shelf.  She now takes one of the kitchen chairs and drags it to the high shelves and cabinets and peers inside and pulls everything out.

I have been feeling minus my sketchbook extremely creatively stunted. Before having baby Everett I was constantly doing projects around the house but now I can barely do the dishes or fold laundry.  I can't even remember the last time I pulled out the vacuum. I know I should be easy myself because hey I just had a baby but I miss inspiring Nora and myself around the house.

So in an attempt to be a little more organized and declutter more of my home, I'm cleaning out one drawer or shelf a day.  I can totally do that, right? I mean it can't be that hard to just do a simple little chore once a day, right?

i am really busy right now and my house is starting to show it, badly. i was thinking that same thing. i need to just do one area, closet, drawer, cupboard a day. it does sound doable. it's just a matter if i do it ;)

Go easy on yourself! Life will resume, back to normal (well, sort of...at least, a different kind of normal). Until then, think of this time in terms of art history: this is your "domestic" period, and the art you make now will reflect that influence. Do what you need to fill that creative urge!

Shine on!

Good luck with the de-cluttering. With two little ones around I can imagine anything being difficult. SO easy to run out of time. X

Boy, I feel you—and my daughter is a year and a half! But still, I am always inspired by your creative expression.

(So much so, in fact, that I nominated you for a Real Neat Blog Award and linked to you here! http://tenthousandhourmama.com/2015/02/02/real-neat-blog-award-and-7-questions/)

I think that's a totally attainable goal! What a great idea to steadily get things organized. :)

"Baby" steps if you will. I have a difficult time concentrating when I'm surrounded by chaos as well and I can't even begin to imagine how tired you are. Where is that fairy godmother of ours??

Oh yes, you should be much, much easier on yourself! One shelf a day, when you have a newborn and a toddler, is still a herculean accomplishment! You can do it! xo
