Portland Tarot Art Show

Here is my painting for the Portland Tarot Art Show.  I am actually surprised at how fast I painted this.

My card is the Queen of Cups and this is a person I saw at a Starbucks whom I knew was the queen of cups.  I think she was falling asleep while reading.  I wasn't sure if I should add the Starbucks logo to the cup but Tim said no because it's tacky and I shouldn't be promoting Starbucks.  Think I should add it?

Oil on wood 20x20.

Erika, thank yo for your comment on my blog. I paint in oil. I am working on a website an I will send you the link when it is ready.
I commend your gumption to quit the 9-5 and paint. KEEP GOING.
Will you answer me this: How did you happen upon my blog???? I am trying to expand my current viewers and I am curious.

I like it just the way it is and wouldn't add the logo. You might add the paper thing that goes around the cup. Love those flowers!

I have nothing against Starbucks, I just figured it would be more timeless without the logo. :)

Oh the other hand maybe the logo would add a depiction of the current culture?

This painting is most excellent. -Did you paint this from life or do you take a picture & paint from that?

Sketch in person then from a picture. :)

I think I am going to wait until the white dries on the cup and then maybe cozy or the logo.... maybe maybe..

Starbucks is now like the McDonald's of coffee shops, so some people might think it represents commercialism. Maybe consider putting a local Portland coffee label like Stumptown Coffee?

Your painting is lovely. Apart from loving the image, your use of subdued colours is just perfect.

I agree that the logo should be left off ... I like it the way it looks now.
