It is no secret that I love a donut. You can actually call me a donut connoisseur. When I was pregnant with Everett, I would wake up around 5 am. Then I would drive all around Portland and go to different donut shops. (not joking). So! I was able to sample a lot of different types and kinds of donuts. Pips - My personal favorite. The only good thing about this donut shop, is that it's far from my house because I would be in trouble. They fry donuts fresh to order. You can't really get better than that. Can you? My favorite is the seasalt and nutella. They are little bite size sugar coated donuts of heaven. They also have a great variety of delicious chai tea lattes. Portland, Oregon is my city. I was born here and have lived here my whole life. I got married here, gotten drunk here, hitch hiked here (not recommended), went to my first concert here (it was Cherry Poppin Daddies), visited my first art museum, and both my kiddos were even born at the same hospital I was born in. This city holds so many special memories for me, but I am always learning and doing new things in it. I have been wanting to do a city guide for quite some time but Portland has so many wonderful things to offer. I started making lists of all the most stop locations in Portland, and there were just too many for one blog post. So much, that it's almost over whelming how awesome of a place Portland really is. So this is a start of a new little series highlighting Portland and the places around the Pacific Northwest that I truly love and recommend. I have also met so many people that have moved here and have fallen in love with this city......
Portland Rhododendron Gardens is easily one of my favorite little parks in Portland because Tim and I got married here. It's a special place, not only because we had our special day here but we used to come here for dates too. We would just walk around the park for hours, holding hands and talking. It's truly one of my favorite hidden gems in the city because it's never really crowded, and it's like a secret garden. We spent the morning walking around all the different lakes and streams. The whole garden is extremely toddler and pregnant lady friendly which earns extra bonus points. There are lots of nice big wide paths and not to many hills. There are tons of big fat ducks and bossy geese around the lakes, and they love visitors or I should say snacks. I didn't realize this but I gave Nora a graham cracker and a goose chased us around for nearly 20 minutes. and just for a crumb!
