Attack of the birds

Well these little bitty inny whinny tinny paintings are for the Art House's Canvas Project in that fabulous Hot-lanta. I don't know why but these little guys took forever to dry. These are the little brown hopping birds that were all over Cancun, Mexico.

So I am back to working on my landscape series and right now I am working on a lovely painting of the Deshutes River. I think the air is different in Bend.. crispier.. greenier.. fresher.. just a good place to get away from the it all.

So it's almost Halloween and I do not have a costume. I have a cape so maybe it might be a recipe for a super hero. I am not sure what my super power would be... If anyone out there has any ideas that is not a cat, nurse, witch, or something with wings- I am all ears... haha!

My painting will be up for another week at the Launch pad gallery. Mine is the little painting with the tree right above the girl with the hat.

Today I went to Good Will and got a few items for some still life which I am going to be working on over the next few weeks.

I also joined a new creative group which it's first meeting was today and we are going to be doing the Artist Way. I have heard a lot of great things about the book but I have always wanted to do the book with a group and I finally found one. There are a lot of passionate and creative people in the group and I have a great feeling about it.

Still waiting for my paintings to dry. Damn you oil paint!

thursday.. is it friday yet?

Well I am back from vacation from the
beautiful and ever amazing Cancun, Mexico. Here is the lovely view from our room. There were a few thunder storms during our stay due to it being the tail end of hurricane season. It would rain so hard that water would leak into our room, but for the most part there was still plenty of sun and extremely humid.

We were able to go to Chichen Itza one of the days on a all you can eat and all you can drink bus and a ton of shopping. Chichen Itza was just crowned one of the wonders of the world in the last few years and it is pretty old and intense. There is a head cemetery where the losing team's soccer captain would be be-headed but he would receive his own grave stone with a skull on it. Then there was a heart cemetery where they would put the hearts. There were also stone snakes everywhere! Did I mention there was fabulous shopping? Did I also mention it was all you can eat and all you can drink?

During our stay I got a lot of reading, relaxing, and reflecting done. Don't we all need that? I feel re-energized and re-focused on art and life. I am going to be working on a landscape series of places around Oregon. I also finished up my Art House Co-op canvas project. I did a little series of these hopping black/brown birds with a long tail and beady eyes. I'm waiting for them dry before I post.

Lots of new names in this show, and let me tell you, the work is really great! As you might imagine, the response to this theme has been incredibly diverse. With plenty of sexy, scary, sad, mysterious and down right strange work in the show, there is sure to be something intriguing for everyone, so get psyched and come on down to share your dreams!

AND FYI... The Dreams show is a FUND RAISER for Launch Pad

As we approach our third anniversary this December, the financial realities of keeping Launch Pad open are making it difficult to keep going. You can help us continue to bringing you great art and a free, all ages community space by buying work at this show, as the participating artists are giving Launch Pad 40% of the sale price, rather than the usual 25%. You are also welcome to make a donation at the bar (checks can be made out to Launch Pad Gallery) or find a volunteer to use your VISA/MC. Every little bit helps!
