Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs the former CEO of Apple passed away yesterday.  My husband is a pretty big geek and changed his career path to be an IOS (apple) developer.  We have 3 apple computers in the house, about 5 iphones (they are for testing), 2 ipads, an apple tv, and I am sure I am forgetting something. I remember the day my husband was talking to me about wanting a mini mac (apple's cheapest computer) and I told him he already has a computer but if he wanted it- he had to promise me he was going to make something.  It took him about 6 months, but he made something.  He made Robotvision, which was one of the first augmented reality application on the app store. It was featured in Tech Crunch, Wall Street Journal and the list goes on.. it also led to some really fun projects like a Paris application with the french government.  The app is called Culture Clique and it's an application that gives you all the facts about Paris with all of the historical data and my husband did the augmented reality portion for the app.  I am very proud of my husband for following his dreams and doing what he loves. Steve Jobs changed my husband's life and he never met Steve Jobs.  Thank you Steve Jobs for inspiring my husband and inspiring me.  My favorite speech of his is this Stanford one because he talks about how important it is to lead a life of passion.  If you have time and haven't seen it- I promise you it is inspirational.

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” -Steve Jobs

Rest in peace Steve. Regardless of your opinion the death of anybody is horrible and especially the death of a man who is an absolute complete and utter genius.

This just made me really teary. It's a weird one but this is my favorite Steve Jobs quote, "I want to put a ding in the universe." There's no doubt that he did.

i listened to the steve jobs commencement address again today and it is wonderful. based on how he entered the world, he really had no business achieving the success he did. he defied the odds by leaps and bounds.

he really was a visionary from concept to marketing and i love all of my apple products. they work well, look beautiful and i feel like i'm in on 'it' (cooler) when i use them.

i'm sorry he passed away and enjoyed reading how his life inspired your husband's success. steve jobs has not only left a legacy in his company, but one that will live on in all of those who were inspired by him just like your husband.

That´s a fantastic story you´re sharing.

When I read this news this morning I teared up. It´s interesting since I didn´t know the man - but it was something about him that was impossible not to admire. He had an amazing gift.

Wow! He touched so many people and never realized how many! Your husband sounds like one very smart cookie. Today I was just telling my coworker about the first time I used a computer. I was in the 2nd grade and we had a new computer lab in our school. The teacher explained that the lab was called "The Orchard" and the computers were called Apples. The room had apple trees painted on the walls. The computers looked just like the ones in your top photo :) Who knew they would become such a huge part of our lives! Am I showing my age yet?

It's really sad!! I loved that speech, its something I always try and remember too! The world needs more of the eccentric ones who do more than just talking about it! xx

Dude, it sounds like your husband has one of the coolest jobs ever, and how lucky that you get to help him test all the new products! I have been an Apple user since I was 5 and started learning how to use a computer. It's the only way to go! Unless you are big into gaming, I don't understand how anyone still uses a PC! (they are SO stinkin' slow!)

I had yet to see that particular photo until now. What a good, humble and passionate man. I'm so proud to be a Mac user for life!

Incredible speech! And your post was amazing too - I had no idea your husband's career path had been inspired by Steve Jobs or that he'd created apps for the iPhone!

Steve Jobs was our generation's Einstein and he will not be replaced in our lifetime. It saddens me to think of all the brilliance and advancements that won't happen because he's not here to think of them.
