It's finally done! I really struggled with this one.. From the guys bald spot to the different sources of light, and it's a lot darker then I typically paint  This piece is for the Launch Pad Gallery 's show Facing your Fears. I thought long and hard about what are my biggest fears.  I am a total wuss and afraid of a lot of things. I love to travel but I hate getting in planes.  I think the entire time about the plane crashing over the water because if you crash over water you are dead.  So maybe I am afraid of drowning? No I am afraid of crashing.. maybe I am afraid of burning.  Or am I just afraid of Death? I am afraid all my teeth will fall out and I even just went to the dentist last week.  So am I afraid of my teeth falling out? Or afraid of the dentist? Or am I just afraid of bad news? So I figured.. What do I do when I am facing my fears.  I pray :), I am not super religious, but have my own views with God and the Universe.  When vi......
Help! I really need to start working on a piece for the show called Facing Your Fears that the Launch Pad Gallery is organizing.  The piece is due at the end of the month, and I have no idea what I am going to do. I am afraid of lots of things- I am an overly cautious person, I am the type of person whom if I leave the front door unlocked, I will convince myself that there could be an axe murder in the house.  :) So maybe I have too many fears to choose from and that is the issue. One of Tim's biggest fears is spiders, and here are some big gross ones hanging around my house (on the outside)....
I am in the Family Show at the Launch Pad Gallery and I just did a small painting of a church. I went to a small private Catholic School for all 12 years of school. I know.. pretty painful. Yes I wore a uniform.. Yes there were nuns with large rulers.. Thinking back . Now feeling old.. we used to write the answers of our spelling tests on our upper legs under our skirt to cheat, to this day I am still a horrible speller. Thank god for spell check. :) So this is a little church out in the middle of no where in Helvetia, Oregon . Helvetia is best known for their burger joint, Helvetia Tavern . I have gone out and eaten there a few times because the burgers are so monstrous and fresh. I did a lot of thinking about what I wanted to do for this show since lately I have been mainly working on landscapes and I thought I would go with something a little bit more from my back ground....
I have been so busy with painting.. school... work.. my life is a Hurricane! Work is extremely busy! They are pushing us to work at 48-56 hours per person. Then I have class 2 nights a week. Then I also have my paintings to work on. Here is one my homework assignments starring my super model little angel Winston. The assignment was to paint something in my house using 2 colors other than black and white. I used yellow ochre, raw umber, black, and white. He is sleeping on a pillow on my couch and he is pretty adorable. Over the weekend I had the orientation for the SE art walk and there is going to be over 100 artists participating.. so the room was quite packed! It was great to see so many passionate people. I am also going to have a piece of art in a group show at the New Deal Cafe for the month of February. I am also working on my piece for the Love Show at the Launch Pad Gallery/Olympic Mills annual Love event. :).... so hopefully I can finish everything in time. Have a go......
My painting will be up for another week at the Launch pad gallery. Mine is the little painting with the tree right above the girl with the hat. Today I went to Good Will and got a few items for some still life which I am going to be working on over the next few weeks. I also joined a new creative group which it's first meeting was today and we are going to be doing the Artist Way. I have heard a lot of great things about the book but I have always wanted to do the book with a group and I finally found one. There are a lot of passionate and creative people in the group and I have a great feeling about it. Still waiting for my paintings to dry. Damn you oil paint!...
