Before I quit my job- people would ask me, "How do you find the time to paint? Between work and coming home making dinner and relaxing. I just don't have the time." Well first of all my previous employment was pretty demanding during the busier parts of the year I was working 50-60 hour work weeks, and that was required. This is just how I was able to find the time to paint every day and some tips that I discovered that worked for me. 1. How do I relax? Me personally one of my many addictions is television. I love television. Don't judge me! :) So I have my studio television on while I work. I watch movies.. documentaries.. I have instant watch from Netflix hooked up. Documentaries are educational right? 2. How do I find time to hang out with my husband and be creative? Tim also has his own side work that he is passionate about. He makes iphone apps on the side. We do dinner, take ......
Do you ever feel the need to revisit a book? I have been thinking maybe I need to reread The Artist Way by Julia Cameron. I feel like I need some help focusing and staying on track. I always wondered if people kept up with all of the tips or even some of the tips in the book....
So I am waiting for few paintings to dry because I really need to get into gear for this summer and my future endeavors. I started my class this last week and it's my first painting class, EVER! It was an extremely humbling experience. Going to a class and being open and honest to change and learning something new which was and is huge challenge. So this last week we starting working on a still life black and white painting and it really makes you realize that sometimes you need to get back to the basics. This weekend I met up with my art group and we haven't seen each other in awhile due to holiday hiatus. I really missed each and everyone of them since they all bring a different percecptive to the group and we all really "get" each others creative spirit. I also found out this week I got accepted into doing the Southeast Portland Art walk which I don't know exactly where I am going to be but I'm sure I will found out more information in the orientation ......
My painting will be up for another week at the Launch pad gallery. Mine is the little painting with the tree right above the girl with the hat. Today I went to Good Will and got a few items for some still life which I am going to be working on over the next few weeks. I also joined a new creative group which it's first meeting was today and we are going to be doing the Artist Way. I have heard a lot of great things about the book but I have always wanted to do the book with a group and I finally found one. There are a lot of passionate and creative people in the group and I have a great feeling about it. Still waiting for my paintings to dry. Damn you oil paint!...
